Reviews about Dunkirk Memorial, St. Clement's Churchyard
- Infoexpert X Review added: 2017.12.18★ ★ ★ ★ ★Six "Bawley" (cockle) boats from Leigh took part in the evacuation of British troops from Dunkirk on 1st June 1940. One boat the Renown did not come back as it was blown up by a mine.
This memorial is for that boat and the crews who went to Dunkirk. It has a square plinth bearing a depiction of the prow of a sinking boat, representing the "RENOWN". The boat is being enveloped by a canopy representing a giant wave, two uprights form a letter 'V'. The names of its crew were Lukie (Leslie) and Frankie (Frank) Osborne, Harry Noakes and Harold Porter.
